Overview

The Postgraduate Certificate in Islamic Chaplaincy is the new program introduced by Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) in collaboration with Al-Islam Specialist Hospital, This program is a Postgraduate Certificate Program of Level 7 as referred to the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF).

Entry Requirements:

i. Meets the minimum requirements of the Program Standards / requirements of a       professional body / recommendations of MQA in effect for student intake during that period; or

ii. Other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Government.

• Any changes to the Program Standards / requirements of a professional body / recommendations of MQA will only apply to new cohorts of students.
• The implementation of entry qualification requirements based on the Program Standards / requirements of a professional body / recommendations of MQA will be enforced according to the stipulations outlined in the circular by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) when enforcing the application of a certain Program Standards / requirements of a professional body / recommendations of MQA.

Programme Aims:

• This program introduces students to chaplaincy from Islamic perspective related to clinical pastoral education (CPE) and fundamental knowledge of Islamic pastoral care (Muslim chaplaincy) that covers the Islamic worldview.
• This program also offers an added value to students in the current job especially to those who are already in the healthcare sector. It will become a platform to elevate skills and character to become a qualified professional and experienced chaplain, and relate their knowledge in Muslim chaplaincy work.
• This program also aims at building the personality of the students by nourishing and instilling virtuous attitudes and values, emphasizing on ethics and professionalism, nurturing sensitivity towards various cultures and motivating the students to engage in life-long education.

Curriculum Structure

The duration of study for this program is 6 months, based on the academic calendar for postgraduate students undertaking the research mode. Here is the list of the courses that will be taught in this program:
